The EMERGE Panel is designed to engage students and emerging designers who are 0 to 5 years into their careers after graduation. The group will discuss current design events, the transition from student to working life and the things they wished they knew before embarking on the journey as a full-time designer. They will also touch currently tech and design practices that will be useful for the future of the success of design here in St. Louis.
EMERGE designers (if you’re going by the AIGA National Definition) are designers who are 0-5 years into their career. They include fresh graduates and newly transitional practitioners.

Howdy, I’m James Butler. I’m a graphic designer in STL. I am a young designer, but in my first few years, I have done a range of work, from package and print design, branding, signage design, all the way to custom fabrication and woodworking. I like to think of myself as a versatile and tactile designer. I am passionate about telling stories through design, and helping to create environments.
I currently work at a firm called Arcturis, an architecture and design collaborative studio, where I work on a wide variety of projects. I love working with clients and helping the people and their businesses bloom into something beautiful. The most rewarding part of my job is helping develop the community in which I live and seeing design have an impact on the city.
Complementing my passions for design, I love traveling, trying new foods or restaurants, biking, coffee, St. Louis, campfires, and film photography. I am the proud, new owner of a 1986 U-Haul CT-13 Fiberglass camper that I’m in the process of renovating. Can’t wait to get it on the road for some new adventures!
My name is Delores Eddington and I’m a digital marketing designer from St.Louis.
I started my creative journey in studio art, as I continued, I found my passions in illustration and graphic design. I gain inspiration from my city and the creatives; from graffiti, to fashion I gain inspiration from all design aspects to enhance my own. When it comes to my illustration work, more specifically, I am influenced by graphic novels and comic books. As of now in my career I am an inclusion advocate that wishes to educate and help other minorities pursue a career as a creative. As I continue my path as a graphic designer, I continue to repeat the notion of the continuation of learning and how you can never learn enough. I live to learn, create, and thrive in the fled that I believe has opportunities for all.
